Field Staff
Compensation: $30.00- $43.26 Per Hour
GENERAL MAINTENANCE:
Participates in machinery troubleshooting; documents repairs made
Replaces or repairs defective parts
Reassembles equipment and tests for conformance to specifications
Works on assigned projects; responds to emergency call outs
Disassembles malfunctioning equipment; examines and tests mechanisms on large and small pieces of machinery
Inspects and calibrates instruments
Tests equipment and adjusts calibration to ensure equipment is functioning within specified standards
Interprets technical documents (blueprints, manuals) as required
Maintains constructive cross-functional relationships
Searches for and executes against continuous improvement opportunities
Performs basic plumbing and piping operations
Operates machining tools and drill presses; performs basic welding operations
Services pumps and drive system components
Troubleshoots basic alarms
Provides preventative maintenance, repairs, and troubleshooting services for all types of equipment
Maintains shop/truck machines, tools and facilities
Drives truck with capacity of more than 3 tons, to transport materials to and from specified destinations and follows applicable regulatory laws
Operates Vacuum and Vactor truck in effort to maintain sewer collection system and stormwater systems
Installs/repairs: electrical systems, apparatus, electrical components of industrial machinery/equipment
Connects power supply wires to machines/equipment and connects cables/wires between machines/equipment
Diagnoses malfunctioning apparatus such as: transformers, motors and replaces damaged or broken wires/cables
Replaces faulty electrical components of machine such as relays, switches, motors, positions and sensing devices
Plans new or modified installations to minimize waste of materials, provide access for future maintenance and avoid unsightly, hazardous, unreliable wiring, consistent with specifications and local electrical codes
Operates crane mounted on specially constructed truck chassis to lift and move materials and objects
Operates crane according to signals from helper
Operate jackhammers and drills to break up concrete or pavement
Position, join, align and seal structural components, such as concrete wall sections and pipes
Tend pumps, compressors and generators to provide power for tools, machinery/equipment
Lubricate, clean and repair machinery/equipment and tools
Operate, read and maintain air monitoring and other sampling devices in confined and/or hazardous environments
Apply caulking compounds by hand or using caulking guns
Clean and prepare job sites to eliminate possible hazards
Control traffic passing near, in or around work zones
Dig ditches, trenches, backfill excavations and compacts/levels earth to grade specifications, using picks, shovels, pneumatic tampers and rakes
Erect and disassemble scaffolding, shoring, braces, traffic barricades, ramps and other temporary structures
Install sewer, water and storm drain pipes, using pipe-laying machinery and laser guidance equipment
Load, unload, and identify building materials, machinery and tools, and distributes them to the appropriate locations, according to project plans and specifications
Provide assistance to craft workers
ADDITIONAL MAINTENANCE MECHANIC DUTIES:
Completes internal company calendars, log books, check sheets, memos and etc.
Understand and adhere to company policies and procedures
Care and maintenance of company issued equipment including, vehicles, hand tools, power tools, computer, phone, lab equipment and etc.
Attend necessary company meetings and training
Maintain certificates and licenses necessary for assigned duties
Follow all company, facility, client, State and Federal laws and safety precautions and participate in company safety training and certifications
Duties may vary from time to time and are at the discretion of the Maintenance Manager and Maintenance Supervisor.
Work in a safety-sensitive function

LANGUAGE SKILLS: Minimum ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write correspondence and fill out safety paperwork, timecards and daily paperwork. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients and other employees of the organization.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Minimum ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals and ability to compute rate, ratio and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
REASONING ABILITY: Minimum ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instruction furnished in written, oral, or diagram form and ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations. Must be able to put information and instruction into oral, written or diagram form for the direction of other employees.
COMPUTER SKILLS: To perform this job successfully, an individual should have at the minimum working knowledge of the Internet, computers, Microsoft Office Suite and cell phones.
CERTIFICATES AND LICENSES:
Maintain current CPR/First Aid certificate
Maintain a valid Class A California Driver’s License and a satisfactory driving record
Maintain current Confined Space Entrant, Attendant and Supervisor Certificate
Maintain a D-1 issued by the State of California Public Health Department
Maintain a Grade II Collection System Maintenance issued by the California Water Environment Association
OTHER QUALIFICATIONS:
Must be willing to work long hours, overtime, weekends, alternative schedules and holidays when required
May be required to travel as necessary
Must be willing to be on-call
Knowledge of variable frequency drives
PLC’s
Knowledge of computer operations and software programs
Forklift and aerial lift knowledge
Knowledge of wastewater, water and winery systems

WORK ENVIRONMENT
The wastewater industry can be hazardous due to exposure to biological and chemical hazards, as well as physical dangers, including but not limited to, confined spaces, slips, falls, wet and/or humid conditions, high and/or low altitude, moving mechanical parts, high and/or precarious places, fumes and/or airborne particles, outside weather conditions, extreme cold, extreme heat, risk of electrical shock, vibration, sewage, epoxy coatings, solvents, and excessive noise levels. Employees may come in contact with wastewater which contains human waste. Wastewater contains various bacteria, viruses, and parasites that can cause diseases in humans and animals. Workers can be exposed through contact with wastewater, aerosols containing pathogens, or contaminated equipment. Wastewater treatment processes also involve the use of various chemicals, some of which can be toxic or corrosive. It is imperative that employees wear proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and follow safety protocols. While not mandatory, it is also highly recommended that employees stay current with vaccinations, including Hepatitis A, Hepatitis B, Tetanus, and Diphtheria.
