DISINFECTION, CHLORINATION AND DECHLORINATION SERVICES

Disinfection is an important part of operating a water system and protecting consumers. During that process, licensed water operators add sodium hypochlorite to sanitize the system and let it sit for a specified amount of time in accordance with AWWA standards. When the time has elapsed, they flush the system with clean water and dechlorinate the flush water by adding a chemical that removes any chlorine residuals. Once dechlorination is complete, samples are taken to ensure that there are no pathogens in the water and that it is safe to drink.

Fluid Resource Management provides disinfection, chlorination, dechlorination and sampling for water systems, wells, main lines and tanks as part of the following:

  • Start-up of a new water system

  • Routine water system operations and maintenance

  • Following substantial repairs to a water system
